How long to stay in Prague? Are there many places to visit and see? How soon can I become bored? Being one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, Prague has a lot to show. But if these are the questions you wonder about we will try to answer them.
Let’s find out what kind of traveler you are
All tourists are different and may need various amount of time to get enough. Some may need 3 days to complete all out of their “to-do and must-see lists”. Others may wonder along these tiny old streets for weeks finishing with the desire to move to the “city of 100 spires”.
So pick up the option and have fun in Prague:
- vacationers;
- culture lovers;
- globetrotters.
1-2 days in Prague for globertrotters
If you visit Prague only for 1 or 2 days and really want to learn things about the city and to feel it, you schedule will be tough. First of all let’s make it clear with the hotel and transport. If you have already book a place to stay, read further, if not, pay attention at the manual I’ve created to book a proper hotel or hostel in Prague.

- Befoer you arrive in Prague, make sure you know how to use public transport and Uber. Or better check the price of transfer from the airport to any destination:
Day 1
The very first day I sincerely recommend spending with a local tour guide. We have a selection of the most diverse city tours around Prague you could only wish to have. If you take one or several of them, you will save your time on search and learning about attractions. If you want to waste time for googling or reading from paper maps, go through the description of the tour and pick up the locations we visit. With this info you will have a chance to see much more.
Food tour in Prague
To my mind food is a very essential part of traveling, therefore I highlight our private food tour in Prague. It is a great chance to eat, drink and hang out with a friendly local travel guide. He will be your chef, friend and the source of further information. In Prague you may loose a lot of money on beer and food, if you don’t know how to avoid tourists’ traps.
- Follow the link to learn more and to plan your 1st day in Prague
If you want to travel on your own and don’t need a guide, read about the tour as well. You will find a lot of useful information about Czech traditional cuisine.
Day 2
The second day I recommend starting with a proper stroll. The problem you might face walking around the city is the crowd. Believe me or not, but almost all the year round the Czech capital is busy. And of course there are ways out. Together with the team we have come to the proper solution, which will help you to enjoy the beauty of architecture and history at full. And this is the private city tour in Prague “Early birds”.
City tour early in the morning
Usually we start the second day with tourists around 5-6 a.m. in Summer and about 7-8 a.m. in winter. It sounds a bit crazy, I know. So many people write to us with this comment, but all of them who book the tour, change the opinion right after we meet.
- Look at the picture below and imagine Charles Bridge so empty.
For solo travelers this advice works as well. Even without a guided tour, despite how many days you stay in Prague, make sure that at least one morning you wake up really early to see the great beauty.
- Have your lunch in one of the restaurants: Potrefena Husa
Night tour: Prague adventures: absinthe, cocktails and long talks
After the tour we usually have a lunch and relax till the evening meeting. During the day the centre: Old and New town, Lesser Quarters, Josefov and Prague Castle are packed with tourists. So it is better to relax in the hotel and in the evening meet for another tour: “Night Prague adventures: absinthe, cocktails and long talks”.
Prague has quite a number of bars. Most of them share with visitors high standards of service, high quality drinks and amazing atmosphere. Some bars are louder, others calm and more relaxing. On a tour we will be able to visit about 5-10 places in Old Town. I think it will a perfect ending of a short 2 day trip. And may be next time, when you think of how many days to stay in Prague, the answer will start with at least 5.
3-5 days in Prague for vacationers
I am happy for you, if you are going to stay in Prague for more than 3 days. Do you know why? Because there are more chances that you completely fall in love with the city of 100 spires. The Czech capital is a fantastic destination for touring and relaxing. Therefore it is essential to make a perfect plan. So if the first 2 days of your trip are clear (read above), let’s go through the rest.
Day 3
The third day after a absinthe tour I would not start to early. Sleep well and enjoy a proper Prague breakfast with good coffee. To continue the discovery I suggest taking either bikes or electric scooters to leave the centre of the city and to see some neighborhoods, which most of the tourists never visit.
The places to visit are super local and give the vision of true daily life in Prague
Prague without the Bridge tour
The idea of this tour came to my mind after cycling with friends along the river. I realized that Prague is more than just beer, bridges and red roofs. There are so many hidden vibes and friendly neighborhoods! They are too far to walk and too close to each other to use public transport. So bikes and e-scooters became the right solution.
but if you would like to discover non-touristic areas yourself put down:
- Zizkov;
- Karlin;
- Holesovice;
- Letna.
There you will have a lot of opportunities to wonder around and find numerous local places: bars, restaurants, galleries, creative spaces, open air cinemas and so one.
After a proper lunch and beer in Czech traditional restaurant I will recommend to go close to the riverside. There you will find a place to relax and enjoy another perfect evening. Or maybe a jazz concert will work for you? Check Reduta of Jazz Dock. Both places are famous for perfect sound and nice music.
Day 4
The forth day is high time to leave the city, but not for good, just for one day. Czechia is super reach on Castles and natural parks. The choice is huge. Therefore I will recommend to start with the best. So the best destination for a day trip from Prague is Cesky Krumlov and Hluboka nad Vltavou.
- Distance from Prague: about 180 km;
- Best way to get: private guided tour (12 hours);
- Other ways: bus (regiojet.cz) or train (cd.cz); car (how to rent a car in Prague).
Day 5
The last day for you, if you chose this reply for question how many days to stay in Prague. It will be mostly packing, buying souvenirs and departure. If you have a spare hour or two in the Old Town, check the Old Town Hall tower – the one with Astronomical Clock.
- The fee is 210 CZK (8 EUR), but the view is priceless.
6-10 days in Prague and Czechia for Culture Lovers
You know, that you take very wise decisions? How do I know? I plan to stay in Czechia for a week and discover the country, its culture, food and traditions. The plan for previous 5 days is above and let’s what else is worth your attention.
Day 6
The 6th day of Czech trip you can stay in the city to discover hills of Prague. It is another private city tour with local guides which will open to you new vision of the Czech capital. there are 4 main hills to visit: Petrin, Prague Castle, Letna and Vitkov. But these peaks, we will use almost all kinds of public transport in Prague: trams, funiculars, metros and a boat in summer time.
This adventure will take about 6 hours – a proper walk with coffee breaks, lunch in a local restaurant and lots of interesting information about Prague. In the evening I suggest going for concert. There are so many variants among which I will sincerely recommend either Municipal House or Klementinum.
Day 7
Another day trip from Prague. This time you will go to see the pure nature at the boarder of two countries: Czechia and Germany. Destination is called Czech Switzerland. Unlike tours in Prague or trip to Krumlov this adventure is more about spirit and soul. There are not so many things to narrate, but so many to behold. Mountains, forests, horizons and fresh air. Watch the video and make sure you plan this trip with us.
- Distance from Prague: about 100 km;
- Best way to get: private guided tour (12 hours);
- Other ways: bus (regiojet.cz) or train (cd.cz); car (how to rent a car in Prague).
Day 8
After a long hiking day it is good to make things even better. What do I mean? Let’s take bike and cover a distance of 35 kilometers to find of the most visited castles in the whole country — Karlstejn. This is going to be an adventure as well. Bike road leading from the centre of Prague will take us to the countryside with little villages, spectacular views and tasty beer or lunch breaks.
- Distance from Prague: about 35 km;
- Best way to get: private guided bike tour (8 hours);
- Other ways: train (cd.cz); car (how to rent a car in Prague).
Day 9
This day you can devote to shopping in Prague which is not as good as in Dresden for example. So the latter may be a good idea for a day trip as well. Either with a guided tour or with private transfer there and back you can see the reconstructed pear of German architecture.
- Distance from Prague: about 140 km;
- Best way to get: private guided tour (10 hours);
- Other ways: bus (regiojet.cz); train (cd.cz); car (how to rent a car in Prague).
Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) is a place to learn more about your health, relax in SPA and drink mineral water. Such a trip will also take you about a day. So you choose and plan.
Day 10
Departure. Well after such a huge program you are sure to love the city and the country. I’ve seen top places, but there are still so many to visit. I do hope that now you know how to answer to the question: how many days to stay in Prague and what to do here.
