According to statistics more and more tourists spend 3 days in Prague and more. A lot of my friends visiting me also devote the Czech capital only 3-4 nights. Therefore I decided to sum up my experience and to share with you a perfect travel plan for three and more nights in Czechia.

Day 1: arrival

Hotel in Prague for 3 daysDepending on the time of you arrival and the means of transport you are going to use, the plan may change. But let’s take an example, when your plane touches the base in Ruzyne International airpot around noon. Let the 3 days in Prague begin!

The way to the hotel, check-in and a bit of relax may take about 2 hours. So, welcome! Let’s start your three day in Prague trip. A perfect start of the trip is food. If you are hungry, nothing on this Earth will ever impress you.

Where to eat?

You can follow my guide for Czech traditional food or book a private food tour in Prague with a local guide.

What to do and where to go?

Around 5 p.m. you are done with your first dish of local food and several pints of beer. It is high time you went to see the Old Town Square and Josef (Jewish quarters in Prague downtown).

This day I recommend to go back to the hotel early, because tomorrow you will get up quite early.

Day 2: Early birds tour

Charles Bridge in Prague
Early mornig tour in Prague

It is day 2 of your 3 in Prague. It is 6 a.m. and you are awake. Quite an unusual situation as for journey, don’t you think so? I absolutely agree with you, but it is important to wake up so early in Prague at least one day out of your planned 3. There are two reasons:

  1. no people in the streets;
  2. amazing photos to your Instagram profile.

Photographer and guide

As a good option of combining these two things (no people and perfect light) in one service we made a very special city tour in Prague. It is called “Early bird” sightseeing tour with guide and photographer. Within 3-4 hours you discover the city with a local guide, enjoy the attraction, talk and learn facts.

And as a bonus to the useful and easy to remember facts, you get beautiful photos from Prague. Book the tour right now and make your trip a better experience.

In case you don’t feel like going for a tour, follow the following list of attraction and places of interest in Prague: Wenceslas Square, Powder Tower, Old Town Square, Charles Bridge, Lennon Wall, Kampa, Kafka Museum, Prague Castle

Breakfast in Prague

In case there is no breakfast in your hotel, I recommend dropping into one of the places for morning meal. Today Prague is getting more and more tourist friendly city in this term. Some 5 years ago it was too hard to find a cafe for breakfast in downtown. Moreover, it was impossible to find good coffee.

Relax

After the late breakfast, which we usually have with tourists in Cafe Louvre, I recommend having a power nap. Some 2-3 hours of day sleep will recharge you and give enough power for evening part of your 3 days in Prague.

And don’t please think, that the day sleep will be wasting of time. Day in Prague is hell. The Old Town, its streets, Charles Bridge — everything is crowded. You will hate the city, believe me. Especially if you want to climb on of the towers and see the panoramic view of the city.

Lunch in Prague

Wake up and go for a lunch to Potrefena Husa restaurant. They serve the most delicious ever roasted pork ribs and Staropramen beer, pickled cheese and roasted duck. The interior, service and prices are very good.

Vegetarian restaurants

Though in each traditional Czech restaurant they serve both meat and veggie dishes, I know that many tourists prefer pure vegetarian restaurants. Here is the list of the most delicious and popular in Prague:

  • Lehka Hlava;
  • Estrella;
  • Maitrea.

Second evening program of 3 days in Prague

In the evening about 4-5 p.m. I suggest following the off-path route. It will take you to the most local spots: hills, towers, markets. There are really a lot of options. Therefore I will name below the places you need to see on your trip to better understand the Czech capital.

Jiriho s Podebrad

In some 10 minutes walk from the Wenceslas Square there is another square Jiriho s Podebrad. This place has several places of interest. The first place to see is Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Our Lord. If the doors are open, go inside to see the unique construction from inside.

Another attraction in Jiriho s Podebrad is the farmers’ market. There local producers sell season products: fruit and vegetables, cheese and sausages, vine and sweets.

Zizkov TV tower

Zizkov TV Tower is situated just round the corner from the square of Jirziho s Podebrad. There are two ways to enter the tower: to buy a ticket and to go to a special touristic location or to do as locals do. At the entrance you may tell the girls who cell tickets, that you are going to the restaurant. Bar and restaurants are at almost the same height with the special observation point. Drop into Reigrovy sady as well.

Dinner in Zizkov

Zizkov in Prague is very reach on restaurants and bars. You can find there anything you would like: from Indian and Vietnamese bistros, to burger and amazing Italian restaurants. My advice is just to go around and drop into the place you see and like. Here is my list of top Zizkov places for dinner:

  • Yes Burder;
  • Pavlac;
  • Guston.

Night party

Provided you still have energy to discover the local life, let’s go out. There are so many nice bars, discos, clubs and parties! Prague never sleeps. This is a good idea to go with friends to dance or to have a cocktail, when you only have 3 days in Prague.

  • Nod;
  • Harley’s;
  • James Dean.

Day 3: off-path Prague continuation

Naplavka in Prague 3 days in Prague

We continue discovering off-path places in Prague. The third day I recommend to devote to the following locations:

Vysehrad

Take the red line Prague metro train and get to the station Vysehrad, which is just two stops from Wenceslas’ Square. You are sure to adore the ambience of the former king’s residence and fortress. Nowadays it is just another historical location, with an old church, cemetery and scenic panorama of red roofs. From Vysehrad you can see Prague castle and of bridges over Vltava river.

Naplavka

Just under the hill of Vysehrad, starts the riverside called Naplavka. It stretches for several kilometers from the railway bridge to the Dancing house. In summer this territory is the best place to go out and to enjoy the evening vibes. Lots of music, lots of food, lots of people and as a result lots of fun!

Dancing house

The Dancing House is one of the most unexpected constructions in Prague. It is built at the corner of the wall of typically European and Prague style houses on the riverside. Locals call it “Drunken houses”, since it is all twisted and has no right angel.

Don’t forget to take a picture of the attraction, but try to go quite far from in, so the whole construction fits the frame.

National theatre

The following fascinating construction to see is the National Theatre of Prague. Amazing — rather a weak words to describe the greatness of the building. As the modern reflection of nowadays’ theatre there is another building — Nova Scena (New Stage).

It was erased in the second half of previous century. There is a tiny square between the Old and the New. This is a popular area for performances and open air design markets.

Vitkov

Vitkov hill is one of the top Prague hills. This is a very patriotic place for Czechs. But for the museum and one of the biggest horse statues in the world, there is a panoramic view over Old Town, Prague Castle and Zizkov.

Letna

Another hill to conquer in one of your 3 days in Prague. If you are lucky to have sunny weather, you will adore the beer garden of Letna. It is always a busy place, because wise tourists like you and locals comes there for a beer. Why? Because the beer is good and the view is even better.

If there are more than 3 days in Prague you plan to spend read further to plan a list of day trips.

Day 4: Cesky Krumlov

Cesky Krumlov is an amazing destination for the whole day trip. It is a tiny town hidden behind the hills. It has never changed since the XV century. That is why it is included into Unesco World Heritage list. I always say, that it is number one destination for a day trip from Prague.

Day 5: Kutna Hora

Kutna Hora is the most mysterious place in the Czech Republic. There is a small church decorated with thousands of human bones. Moreover, it is located in the cemetery. Creepy, isn’t it? Also there is a famous St. Barbara Cathedral in Kutna Hora, where a part of old school thriller “Omen” was filmed.

Other interesting destination for a day trip form Prague are:

Car rentals EN - 500*500

Last day: shopping and souvenirs

If you would like to buy jewelry after the 3 days in Prague, put down the following address:  Pařížská 5 – “Euro Gold Centre” This is a huge shop of Czech garnet, Bohemia glass and other traditional souvenirs. You can use promo code “chezzme” to get a discount of 10-15% and best service.

To buy curative cosmetics which is very famous in the Czech Republic, you need to put in the map another dot: Malá Štupartská 7 – “Carlesbad Cosmetics” In this shop you can also use a promo-code “777” to get a discount for all products. So don’t hesitate to use the offers.

I sincerely hope that your 3 days in Prague will be interesting, divers and emotional. Because this tips I gave above come from my experience of living in the city and country. You can always account on my support with planning a trip to Czechia.
